About the Project

Pass It Forward is a grassroots initiative working directly with schools, children’s centres, and after-school clubs to provide essential items to children and families facing hardship. We believe every child deserves to grow, learn and thrive, regardless of financial circumstance.

In 2018, Get rid of it and Donate provided books, games and arts and craft resources to the Grove Adventure Playground. Together with the Loughborough Junction Action Group (LJAG) and various volunteers, we campaigned for the reopening of the playground.

Victory was achieved and the playground reopened, after negotiations with Lambeth Council, in time for the school summer break, thanks to the efforts of a team of dedicated volunteers.

In addition we have supplied books and toys to Coin Street Nursery, which is privately funded and managed by Coin Street Builders, providing children with enormous joy.

Get Rid of and Donate are overwhelmed each week with the donations of toys and books, we contacted local schools reaching out to families in need.  We donated a total of 1380 toys and books, giving back to children, in return we got drawn pictures showing real appreciation. We were happy to bring a smile to the children’s faces, after a difficult time with the pandemic.

By redistributing good-quality donated items, from clothing and shoes to toys, books, stationery, and school bags, we help ease the burden on families and empower schools to support their communities with dignity.

I like playing with the new toys. I look forward to coming to club and I run to get the Batman and put him in the grass so he looks real.

When I come to the club, I like making things. I was so happy when I saw lots of new art things and I made a necklace and key ring to take home.

Why It Matters

  • 1 in 4 UK children live in poverty, making everyday essentials a struggle.

  • Many students come to school without proper winter wear or basic supplies.

  • Schools often lack the resources to support all their pupils' material needs.

Through this project, we ensure no child is left behind due to circumstances beyond their control.

How It Works

Need to check with Andrea on this.
